SUMMARY:Halfway There\, But Now What? Advice for Pre-Dissertation Doctoral Students
DESCRIPTION:Register for the « Halfway There » PDW for Pre-Dissertation Doctoral Students – Saturday\, August 1st\, 8:00am-12:00pm EDT  \nIf you are a PhD student who has finished your comprehensive exams (or at least one year of your PhD program)\, we invite you to join us for the annual « Halfway There » PDW at AOM 2026. This PDW is designed to help mid-program PhD students begin to establish themselves as independent scholars. We hope you will consider registering for this session and/or spreading the word to your students and colleagues. Pre-registration is required (see link below) and attendance is limited to 100 people. If you are interested\, please register now using the link below (takes 1-2 minutes to complete). \nProgram Overview: \n\nPart 1: Introduction and Introspection\nPart 2: Crafting your Academic Impact and Identity with Dr. Daniel Newton (University of Iowa) and Dr. Jeffery (Jeff) LePine (Arizona State University)\nPart 3: Launching the Dissertation Process with Dr. David (Dave) Arena\, Jr. (University of Texas at Arlington)\nPart 4: Envisioning your Job Market with Dr. Raquel Kessinger (Boston College)\, Dr. Timothy Kundro (University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill)\, and Dr. Darryl Rice (Miami University)\nPart 5: Roundtable discussions with recent job market candidates\nPart 6: Setting your Career Path with Dr. Allison (Allie) Gabriel (Purdue University)\nPart 7: Concluding Remarks\n\nRoundtable Discussions: During this session\, attendees will be assigned to roundtables facilitated by early-career faculty and post-docs. The facilitators will help answer questions related to the earlier segments and provide insights about their own experiences writing a dissertation\, developing a research program\, and navigating the job market. \nHow do I register? The PDW will be held on Saturday\, August 1st from 8am-12pm EDT.
